Grain crop in Azerbaijan seen down on year
According to local media, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee Arif Veliyev projects this year grain crop in the country to reach some 2.13 million tonnes against 2.158 million tonnes the year before. The drop in production was to be attributed to a 14,000-hectare cut in sown areas, Veliyev said to a news conference.
He also said that this year Azerbaijan had an exceptionally large herd of livestock, including 2.3 million heads of cattle.
