Pistachio may grow expensive in Ukraine as a result of the production decrease in Iran

Iran is one of the leading pistachio suppliers in the world and the main supplier of these popular nuts to Ukraine and CIS countries; this year the production will be decreased there, so that the world prices may grow. According to the experts' evaluations, the price decrease may constitute 17.5%, and the gross production may reach only 150,000 tons. The production decrease is caused by lower temperatures observed in spring which affected the yield of pistachio orchards.

About 37% of the world acreage under pistachio orchards are located in Iran, which ensures nearly 47% of the gross production; this country is the world largest producer and exporter. The pistachio consumption is constantly growing in Ukraine, according to the specialists' evaluations.
