Warm and dry weather in Cherkasy affects the harvest of late vegetables

The weather conditions of the first autumn month influence negatively the ripening and harvesting process for late vegetables, according to the information provided by Sergiy Strokan, the Market Information Specialist of Cherkasy office, Agricultural Marketing Project. There have been practically no rainfalls during September; the weather is rather warm, so that the insufficient moisture content in the soil is recorded by many farmers.

This situation affects the growth of such crops as late cabbage, carrot, red beets. The harvesting is hampered too; because of dry soil the machinery is being damaged, the percent of the off-quality products is growing. As the farmers say if there are no rainfalls soon, the decrease of late vegetables' yield may be significant.
