Prices on carrot grew in Poltava oblast
The considerable jump of wholesale price on carrot happened in Poltava oblast, according to the information provided by Yuriy Konyaev, the Market Information Specialist of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project. The majority of carrot is purchased now on USD 0.28-0.32/kg, so that we can expect the growth of the retail price soon. The volumes supplied by Poltava producers are constantly decreasing, and the majority of farmers have sold already the great part of the produced commodities. The specialist explains the decrease of carrot supply by the fact that many producers have sold carrot during the harvesting period, so that now they posses only small volumes to sell. As Yuriy Konyaev says, usually carrot, red beets and potato are the most problematic to sell in the region; but this year the situation changed much, root crops are sold no problem. The price is very favorable this year for the producer. The majority of the produced carrot was sold on USD 0.2-0.3/kg, worst carrot was sold on USD 0.14-0.18/kg. At the same time, a year ago it was problematic to sell quality carrot on USD 0.12-0.14/kg.
