Price on tomato is growing hour by hour
During past 24 hours the price on tomato has grown 40% on the wholesale market Farmer, Kyiv. The main reason for such a rapid price increase is a dramatic shortage of supply in connection with the coming end of field tomato harvesting period. Field tomatoes supplied on market now are of a rather poor quality; greenhouse complexes started to increase price on their products. "There are queues for tomatoes today", Anatoliy Yarovoy says, the Price Monitoring Specialist of the Agricultural Marketing Project. The price on greenhouse tomato has grown on USD 0.2/kg since yesterday up to USD 0.7/kg; the price on field tomato has increased from USD 0.24/kg to 0.36/kg.
