Late cabbage harvesting started in Cherkasy oblast
The season of late cabbage harvesting is starting in Cherkasy oblast. Sergiy Strokan, the Market Information Specialist of Cherkasy office, Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) informs that this season happens to be rather good, to farmers' opinion. However, there are practically no rainfalls this autumn so that yield has been decreased a little bit.
The farmers are satisfied with the price on cabbage observed this year - during the whole year this product has cost no less than USD 0.2/kg; according to AMP price monitoring, the price is twice higher than a year ago. Even if we take into account transportation costs and labor expenses, this year cabbage production has been much more profitable.
The produce market specialists assume that the price on cabbage may decrease soon; the mass harvesting of late cabbage varieties is expected to take place mid October. The further price depends on the ratio of volumes which the producers would like to sell by the end of autumn and to store in winter. However, the majority of producers and market specialists agree that further the price on cabbage will be kept on significantly higher level than a year ago.
