Farmers are urgently harvesting tomatoes left on fields in southern oblasts

Farmers of the southern oblasts of Ukraine are rapidly harvesting remaining tomatoes in connection with the coming cold weather threatening to kill the commodities left on field. According to Roman Rybalko, the Price Monitoring Specialist of the Agricultural Marketing Project in Kherson oblast, there are unripe tomatoes on market. However green tomatoes for pickling meet rather good demand.

Both on the South of Ukraine and in the other oblasts tomato prices tend to grow steadily during the recent weeks. As for today, the average wholesale price on field tomato is USD 0.3/kg in Kherson, up to USD 0.4/kg - in Kyiv.
