Imported cucumber is on sale in Odessa Oblast
The first batches of imported cucumber grown in greenhouses of Turkey showed up in Odessa market. This was well observed by greenhouse product supplies to Odessa supermarkets At present wholesale batches of greenhouse cucumber locally grown are offered for the price of 6.5-7.0 UAH/kg. Small and medium wholesale batches of Turkish cucumber are sold for the price of 8 UAH/kg. As a rule, Turkish produce is sold in the local market beginning late fall through spring when prices in the local market make this supply profitable. In recent weeks with diminishing supply of field cucumber, the price for greenhouse cucumber was going up sharply and most likely reached its height. Appearance of imported cucumber in the market will most likely stabilize the prices for greenhouse cucumber in the nearest future, claims Dmitry Cherniak, market information specialist of Odessa AMP office.
