Potato price stabilized
Potato prices have stabilized after two weeks of rapid growth, according to the results of wholesale price monitoring conducted by the Agricultural Marketing Project. At this moment potato costs USD 0.3-0.4/kg on Farmer market in Kyiv, maximum volumes of product are sold on USD 0.35/kg. Because of greater supply, potato price is lower on Shuvar market in Lviv, it is about USD 0.27-0.3/kg. The average potato price is USD 0.4/kg on Kopani market, Kherson oblast.
As we have reported earlier, this year potato price is nearly twice higher comparing to the season 2004. We can enumerate several factors influencing price situation, including poor potato harvest and more expensive input supplies. Further potato price changes will depend on stored volumes. However, the analysts are united to think that high price will be preserved at least till the end of next season.
