Russia: bird flu epizootic situation as of Nov. 9

Press-service of Russian agriculture ministry with reference to Federal Service for Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Control (Rosselkhoznadzor) informed that as of November 9, 2005 there were 7 bird flu affected settlements in Russia, including:

- 3 affected settlements in Altai Krai;

- 1 affected settlement in Kurgan Oblast;

- 2 affected settlements in Cheliabinsk Oblast;

- 1 affected settlement in Tambov Oblast.

Also on the territory of Russian Federation there were 4 bird flu affected settlements where the source of infection - ill birds - had been slaughtered, but the quarantine term had not yet expired.
