Vegetables continue rising in price in Kyiv - the results of AMP price monitoring
FARMER market, the center of vegetable trade in Kyiv city decreased vegetable supplies according to the information provided by Anatoliy Yarovoy, the Price Monitoring Specialist of the Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP). At the same time more fruits are supplied than ever - it concerns apples at most.
Vegetable prices continued increasing. Past week potato grew expensive on USD 0.03-0.05/kg. Now bulk potato of medium quality is sold on USD 0.37-0.39/kg; huge graded potato costs USD 0.43/kg.
Onion price increased on USD 0.01-0.05/kg, though the supply is sufficient. Major onion sets are sold on USD 0.29-0.3/kg, high quality onion costs USD 0.37/kg.
Cauliflower grew expensive considerably. At this moment this product costs USD 0.39/kg in average, vendors sell top quality cauliflower on USD 0.45/kg. In the beginning of past week cauliflower was sold on USD 0.35-0.39/kg. White cabbage price rose a little, it is sold on USD 0.23-0.25/kg now.
Both national and imported cucumbers are supplied on market; imported commodities are cheaper as a rule. Long Greek cucumbers packed separately in film cost USD 1.47/kg; Turkish cucumbers 8-10 sm long are sold on USD 1.76/kg. They are packed in plastic boxes, have unified color and size. Ukrainian greenhouse cucumbers are the most expensive, the price is about USD 0.19-2.15/kg.
Tomatoes, mostly of Ukrainian origin, are supplied in sufficient volumes. The price on greenhouse tomato fluctuates within USD 0.84-1.07/kg depending from the quality.
Bell pepper imported from Netherlands is sold on USD 1.76/kg (red) and 3.13/kg (orange). Ukrainian bell pepper costs USD 0.35-0.88/kg, but the quality is poor.
There is an abundant supply of apples. Golden Delicious and Aidared varieties are sold on USD 0.78-0.88/kg, large apples of Mitsu variety cost USD 1.27/kg, Ligold variety - 1.13/kg. Merloza apple variety is imported from Moldova; these apples cost USD 0.5/kg. Pears of Ukrainian origin cost USD 0.49-1.17/kg.
