Vegetables have gone up 30% in November

Price growth was observed for nearly all types of vegetables in November, according to the data of price monitoring conducted by the Agricultural Marketing Project. National producers and storages ran out of some vegetables; the most dramatic price movements were recorded for newly imported products. For example, pepper price increased 2-4 times; truly saying, in most cases the quality of imported pepper is better than Ukrainian pepper sold earlier. Imported cucumber and tomato drove local produce out of market almost completely. In November cucumber and tomato prices grew expensive 30-80% depending on the quality. Egg-plant increased 1.5-3 times in price.

As to vegetables supplied on market by Ukrainian producers, cabbage grew in price the most significantly, on 25-60%; the most dramatic price change was observed in the regions - cabbage producers. Other cabbage varieties: cauliflower, Pekinese, broccoli grew even more expensive. Onion price increased 15-20% on Kyiv wholesale markets; it remained stable in Lviv. Onion grew 20-25% in price on retail markets in the majority of the regions of Ukraine.

Carrot price increased on 0.01-0.03/kg, though the supply is sufficient. Red beet price grew up significantly in many regions. As the analysts point out, vegetable storage managers were busy purchasing potato and carrot, as the deficit on these products was observed past year. Time passed, and the supplies of quality red beets turned out to be quite limited on markets, so that the producers lifted up the sales prices high.

Potato had been going up only in the first half of November, than the price stabilized.

Potato is supplied in large volumes now, but often of poor quality.
