The farmers expect the prices on cabbage, potato, carrot, and red beets to increase by mid January

According to the information of the produce business weekly journal "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", the majority of the farmers plans to start selling stored beet crops and cabbage after the New Year and Christmas holidays. They expect the prices on cabbage, potato, carrot and red beets to increase by mid-end of January 2006 comparing to the present prices. No significant losses of the stored produce are likely to take place by the end of January.

Some producers plan to start selling produce in January but to store significant volumes by March-April; the prices in that period are considered to be really high. To their opinion, the stored volumes of root beets and cabbage are not large, that's why in the beginning of 2006 we can see the same situation as a year ago when the prices on the mentioned products grew much exactly in spring. However, we should remember, that the prices on these vegetables are already much higher this year than in 2004, to the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the price growth will hardly be as rapid as in winter-spring 2005.
