Russia: bird flu still registered in two regions
Despite recent statements of Russian agriculture minister about complete elimination of bird flu in Russia, Federal Service for Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Control (Rosselkhoznadzor) has registered the infection in Astrakhan Oblast and the Republic of Kalmykia, Prime-TASS news agency informed with reference to press-service of the agriculture ministry.
As of December 28 there is one bird flu affected settlement in each of the regions. The regions are located about 1,200-1,500 km south-east of Moscow, close to the Caspian coast and Volga estuary.
