A great part of cabbage stocks is injured by frosts - market players

The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal are constantly communicating with the wholesale companies and large farms: they say that cabbage stock suffered much from frosts, so that the supply of this product on market can decrease significantly. Up to 60% of the stored cabbage was injured by frosts on some large storages in the central and eastern regions of Ukraine; the available stock is either unmarketable, or of poor quality, some market players say.

The owners of some storages, which cabbage stood the last frosts without much losses, have already increased the sales prices a bit. Wholesale price of quality cabbage does not go lower $0.49/kg; however, the frost-damaged vegetables are much cheaper. If the volume of frost-damaged cabbage is really so great then we can suppose the prices jump high soon. This year the cabbage harvest is the same as a year ago; past year cabbage was stored well, nevertheless the prices were high enough.
