Price on Polish apples is still higher than a year ago despite of the banned supplies to Russia

After a long period of slow decrease of apple prices in Poland, and a very weak demand, the prices on this commodity have started to grow at last. This is a result of problematic apple transportation during frosty weather, and also the increased supply to the Eastern European countries. Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia purchase surprisingly large volumes of apples this year; the supplies of Polish apples were quite moderate in the previous years.

So, at present moment apple prices are one third higher than a year ago in Poland, it cheered the producers up. However, according to the evaluations carried out by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, apple stock in this country still exceeds much the level of stored apples in February 2005, despite of some inner production decrease. Taking into account many producers who keep apples hoping to get higher price soon, the oversupply can be observed on market by the end of season that is often followed by price decrease. In any case, according to the analysts' evaluations of the "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, only significant increase of apple supply to the Eastern European countries can lead to the further apple price growth in Poland.
