Lowering farmer's inputs cost
Ukrinform reported that as of Apr 25th, newly appointed AIC Minister Serhiy Ryzhouk announced the plan which would sort out the mechanism for mineral fertilizer purchases by farmers. Ukrainian government signed a Memorandum of cooperation between domestic fertilizer and chemical producers.
According to Ryzhouk, this mechanism will allow the farmer to receive a 30-40% discount of the input value if such were purchased off season, and 5-15% discounts during seasonal sales. The funds to subsidize these inputs purchases should come from 2003 budget where projected figure for soil safety and fertilization is US $47 mn. The legal ground behind all this should become the new Land Code to be adopted this year.
