Frost-killing of grain crops will lead to the rapid vegetable production growth in Ukraine
The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal are receiving messages from the regional producers; large farms and the farmers tend to get more interested in vegetable production. One of the main reasons is a full or partial frost-killing of winter grain crops in the farms of the southern regions of Ukraine. Those producers, who lost winter crops, plan to compensate for losses allocating some considerable acreage for vegetables in spring.
The majority of such farmers have a little experience in vegetable production and sales, many of them can face some rather unexpected problems. Those who start vegetable production for the first time, usually choose for the less demanding vegetable crops, such as white cabbage. As a result, the demand on cabbage seeds is likely to exceed the abilities of seed companies this season. And, the prices on late white cabbage can go down during the harvesting period unless the weather makes other unpleasant surprises during the production period.
In the whole, to the analysts' opinion of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, at present moment there is a great probability for vegetable supply to increase on Ukrainian market. The prices are likely to drop in the period of mass vegetable production.
