Retail banana price increased 11% past week
According to the information provided by the specialists of Agricultural Marketing Project to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal, retail banana prices increased 11% past week that reflects the earlier wholesale price increase. In average, bananas cost $1.07/kg in retail past week; an average price on marketable table apples was fluctuating within $0.78-0.98/kg.
As we informed past week, banana prices are growing in Ukraine because of the increasing wholesale prices on this product in Ecuador, the world largest banana exporter. The price growth is fostered by simplified banana export to the EU countries, so the demand has grown too.
The analysts think that banana prices will go down in the midyear due to the expected production growth in Ecuador and some other countries.
