Apple supply increased, prices are going down on Ukrainian market
Despite of a certain price growth on marketable apples in Poland, the prices on this product remain quite stable on Ukrainian market. Poland is the main apple supplier to our country this season. Moreover, price decrease on marketable apples is observed in some regions of Ukraine. On Kyiv wholesale market the minimal price on high quality apples decreased 4% this week, standard quality apples went down 8% in price. The maximal price on standard apples also decreased 13% this week.
Price decrease in Ukraine on the background of price growth in Poland became possible due to the more active sales of Ukrainian apples during the recent 5-7 days (as the preparation to a new season started). Apple supplies from Poland became active, as there is less risk to get produce frost-injured.
The analysts believe that apple price decrease is tentative in some regions; the prices will grow again soon. Some wholesalers and producers have started recently to reconsider prices in upward direction in view of the reducing apple stock and demand growth on market. The scaling-up trend can be created also by psychological factors, particularly the partial damage of apple harvest by January frosts, which also caused the serious losses to the major harvest of the other fruits.
