Vegetable sales on "Shuvar" wholesale market went down, the prices increased again
According to the information provided to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal of Ukrainian produce business by Sergiy Havryshev, Market Information Specialist of Lviv office, Agricultural Marketing Project, this week a number of vegetable vendors decreased one third on SHUVAR market, the largest wholesale market in Western Ukraine. The decreased vegetable supply resulted in a certain price decrease for major food stuff.
Sergiy Havryshev reported that during ten days white cabbage price grew on $0.03/kg (up to $0.45/kg), bulb onion grew expensive up to $0.39/kg, carrot - up to $0.45/kg, red beets - up to $0.36/kg. Potato somewhat decreased in price, from $0.45/kg to $ 0.44/kg.
Imported vegetables cost more now. In particular, imported bell pepper (greenhouse) price grew from $2.45 to $2.68/kg; greenhouse tomatoes rose in price from $1.66 to $1.76/kg. At the same time the prices decreased on national greenhouse products, actively supplied by local greenhouse complexes and farms. Cucumber cheapened on $0.29/kg, down to $1.56/kg. According to the information provided by Sergiy Havryshev, this produce is mainly supplied from four greenhouse complexes in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.
