Drip irrigated acreage grows dynamically in Cherkasy oblast

This year the drip irrigated acreage will increase minimum twice in Cherkasy oblast, to the opinion of Ruslan Naumov, the Chief of Drip Irrigation Sales Department of TERRA Ltd company, one of the leading drip irrigation suppliers on Ukrainian market.

According to the information provided by Sergiy Strokan, the Market Information Specialist of Cherkasy office, Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP), the rates of drip irrigation application have rapidly increased this year. Despite of the fact, that drip irrigation is a rather expensive technology, to the present moment it is one of the most convenient and efficient irrigation methods. Drip irrigation is primarily used in the oblast for cucumber and tomato production, and, certainly, orcharding; less for carrot, onion, cabbage and other vegetables production. Practically all intensive orchards are established using drip irrigation systems in the oblast.

It is worth mentioning that drip irrigation application provides farmers with the opportunity to increase yield up to 100% if all technologies are adhered. More widely applied drip irrigation systems will be a very strong factor for fruit and vegetable production increase in Cherkasy oblast.

AMP information. According to the official statistics, during the recent five years Cherkasy oblast has been occupying the third place as for vegetable export to the other oblasts of Ukraine.
