Zakarpattya early potato is likely to come on market 2-3 weeks later than usual

According to the information provided by Lyudmila Dzyamko, the Market Information Specialist of Zakarpattya office, Agricultural Marketing Project to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, local farmers do not hurry to plant early crops on field - they worry about possible spring flood damage. Past year a significant part of early potato fields was flooded, so the plantings were almost completely destroyed. As a result, early potato supply from Zakarpattya was decreased considerably.

This year, to the opinion of Lyudmila Dzyamko, early potato supply can increase in the region; but this product will probably come on market 2-3 weeks later than usual. This circumstance provides the main Zakarpattya competitors on early produce market (Odesa, Kherson oblasts and AR Crimea) with the chance to get higher price for their produce in this period of time.
