In 2006 drip irrigated acreage is prognosed to grow thrice in Poltava oblast

According to the information provided by input suppliers in Poltava oblast, the producers are becoming more interested in drip irrigation this year. The representatives of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project reported to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal about the forecasted 80-90 ha under drip irrigation in 2006. During three recent years drip irrigation has been applied only on 30 ha, and orcharding farms owned about 75% of this acreage. We can see an obvious trend of this segment growth on market. The main players of the oblast drip irrigation market are TECHNOSERVICE LLC, Terra LLC, Rosta enterprise, AGRIMATCO-Ukraine company. According to the evaluations done by AMP specialists, 80-85% producers prefer to purchase irrigation systems on credit schemes.
