Russian processors are interested in Ukrainian cucumber

Some Russian canneries plan to purchase cucumber for pickling in Ukraine, according to the information obtained by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal. Some Russian canneries plan to purchase cucumber in Kherson oblast; according to the evaluations of a seed company, this year Kherson oblast producers want to plant with cucumber larger acreage than in the previous years.

The climatic conditions of the southern region of Ukraine are less supportive for cucumber production compared to the central regions, but it attracts large buyers by more advanced production standards and more developed contract relations.

At the same time, Andrey Yarmak, the Deputy Director of the Agricultural Marketing Project thinks that Russian canneries will hardly purchase cucumber in Ukraine. It will be difficult to preserve quality during raw materials transportation; the related expenses will make unfeasible cucumber purchase in the South of Ukraine for the Russian enterprises, to the specialist's opinion. And, there are great doubts that Russians can be satisfied with the price on Ukrainian cucumber, as the competition for this raw material is great even on the inner Ukrainian market: many Ukrainian enterprises often have to import raw materials from the other countries.
