Two new supermarkets have been opened this year in Poltava

At once two retail chains entered Poltava oblast this early spring; and already operating chains have opened additional stores here. Yuri Konyaev, the Market Information Specialist of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project provided this information to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal.

The first hypermarket PROSTOR in Poltava oblast was officially opened early March in Kremenchuk. It is also the first store opened in Ukraine by PROSTOR Russian retail chain.

Yana Prodan, the Produce Purchase Manager of the hypermarket points out that the demand for fruits and vegetables has exceeded all expectations. During the first three working days practically all produce commodities have been sold out. During the first working week the hypermarket has sold about 100 tons of oranges; a large supplier said this volume is greater the consumption figure of METRO supermarket chain in Kyiv. The hypermarket constantly ran out of produce. Fruits and vegetables are presented here in a broad assortment on about 100 m2 trading area; it is also a record for the produce sections in Poltava oblast supermarkets.

The hypermarket managers speak about plans to open PROSTOR chain stores in the other oblast centers of Ukraine.

"Velyka Kyshenya" supermarket was opened late March in Poltava. This chain enters the market with the largest store in Poltava. The assortment, convenient parking, appealing design of the trading area impress the consumers much.

Globus cannery presented about six items under "Poltavian" trademark on the hypermarket shelves. It is rather difficult to find this cannery's produce in Poltava oblast, as nearly all produced commodities are supplied to Kyiv. At last, "Velyka Kyshenya" chain has a chance to make the Globino cannery products available for Poltava citizens.

This supermarket has a produce section of about 80 m2 for 25-30 sales items in average. Both packed and bulk products are available for sale. There is a broad variety of frozen vegetable and berry mixes in four cold chambers.
