Each year AR Crimea agriculture suffers from lack of irrigation water

According to the information provided by Alexander Lekhno, the Specialist of Crimean AMP office, the availability of irrigation water on the farm is one of the key factors which influence the farmers' decision to produce early vegetable crops. Many producers give up an idea of vegetable production at all if water supply is absent.

The irrigation water comes to the peninsula annually in the second half of April through the Northern-Crimean water channel. Up to three weeks are needed to fill all channel horizons.

As a result, the most remote from the channel producers have irrigation water by mid May only. Early vegetable production becomes fully unprofitable in such conditions, A. Lekhno points out.
