Next season SHUVAR-PRODUCT filial enterprise plans to sell 1,400 tons of vegetables
According to information provided to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal by the administration of SHUVAR-PRODUCT filial enterprise (Lviv), next season the enterprise plans to sell 1,200-1,400 tons of locally produced vegetables with application of post harvest handling (PHH) practices. The assortment will mainly consist of potato, carrot, red bets and onion. The company plans to store around 400 tons of produce in own storages in autumn, and to purchase additional volumes during the season.
A year ago SHUVAR-PRODUCT filial enterprise installed Dutch line for vegetable PHH and packing worth around EUR 100 thousand. The line capacity is up to 10 tons/shift; it performs dry clearing, calibrating, sorting, washing and packing operations. The final product is sold throughout Lviv oblast and in Kyiv supermarkets; in particular, wholesale shipments are supplied to METRO hypermarkets.
Automatic PHH requires quality products. Next season, for the first time, the producers will supply raw materials according to the supply contracts with the enterprise signed beforehand. It is expected that signed contracts will secure smooth supplies to the enterprise; at the same time, the farmer is sure he will be able to sell grown commodities. The contracts with the suppliers are in process of signing now; the company sees great perspectives of this type of cooperation with the farmers. Roman Servetnyk, the Manager of the company, mentions VAT to be the main problem, as major farmers do not pay it. So, the company has to bear heavy tax burden. That's why they prefer to work with suppliers - VAT payers.
