Garlic price decreased 25-30% in Poltava; this product is still expensive

First wholesale shipments of Crimean garlic started to be supplied on Poltava market mid June. Poltava wholesalers purchase garlic for $1.66-1.86/kg in Crimea and sell this commodity for $2.15/kg in Poltava in wholesale. Garlic is offered for $2.74-2.94/kg on retail markets that is 25-30% cheaper than the price observed since the beginning of month. This information is provided by Yuri Konyaev, the Market Information Specialist of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project.

Despite of the considerable price decrease, garlic remains an expensive product for Poltava citizens. Many retail traders point out dramatic demand reduction. Today's price exceeds 2.5-3 times the past year price of $1.07-1.17/kg.
