Cherkasy processing enterprises start processing cucumber

Processing enterprises of Cherkasy oblast will start soon (on 10th-15th of July) processing cucumber. Cherkasy office of the Agricultural Marketing Project provided this information to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal. Local cucumber producers are harvesting now first shipments of produce or just plan to start this activity soon. In the whole, as of today the state of cucumber plantings is satisfactory in the oblast. There are some messages about disease cases; however, they are not too often.

It is worth mentioning that both producers and processors count on much more successful season than it was in 2005. Cucumber acreage is increased nearly one quarter this year, so the production growth may reach 35-40% if the weather is favorable. According to the specialists' evaluations, processing enterprises of Cherkasy oblast will process around 2,000 tons of cucumber this year. The plant owned by VERES Company will process the main part of this volume.
