Import, and other regions of Ukraine compensate poor peach harvest in Crimea
Despite of poor harvest, Crimea had peach this year. However, tourists have failed to see Crimean peach this year - it was replaced by the produce from other regions of Ukraine (Odesa oblast in particular), and other countries.
We'll remind that the survey was conducted in order to define the extent of damage level of fruit crops after winter frosts. According to the survey results, around 95% of peach were frost-killed in Crimea.
The monitoring of the wholesale market CRIMEAN PRIVOZ in Simferopol is conducted by the Agricultural Marketing Project. It shows that more than 100 tons of peach from Odesa oblast and Moldova are daily supplied on market. The wholesale price for peach fluctuates $2.35/kg to $2.74/kg. The prices are the same as the prices for imported peach were several months ago. We'll point out that retail prices are only 10-15% higher than the wholesale prices. The sellers are reluctant to tell about the origin of sold peach; they prefer to "figure out" the rayons of Crimea where peach could theoretically survive.
