The export of Ukrainian canned vegetables to Russia increased 187%
According to data of the State Statistics Committee, the export of Ukrainian canned vegetables has grown nearly three-fold during recent 5 years. In 2001 15,200 tons of canned vegetables were exported to Russia; in 2005 this figure was 47,800 tons for the total sum worth 35.7 mln. UAH. Russia is gradually becoming the main buyer of canned vegetables of Ukrainian origin. In 2005 87% of these commodities were supplied to Russia (79% in 2001).
The export of canned vegetables from Ukraine to Russia is more than 22% of the gross production; so this market is extremely important for Ukrainian producers.
Germany, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, and Moldova follow Russia regarding export volumes; in total 10% of the gross Ukrainian export goes to the mentioned countries.
We'll remind that in October 2006 the first international conference "Produce Business in Russia 2006" will be held in Moscow jointly with the exhibition IFE Fresh Produce, which is also dedicated to produce market. These events provide Ukrainian processing enterprises and their distributors with the opportunity to introduce Ukrainian product to the most interested players on Russian market.
