Moldova places stake on nuts
On the initiative of the Moldavian Government, National Council of Activities' Coordination of the Nut Crops' promotion was created.
The Council consists of 14 people - including sitting Prime Minister of Moldova Vasiliy Tarlev, as well as Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Anatoly Gorodenko, Chairman of The Academy of Science of Moldova Georgiy Duka and other specialists.
In V. Tarlev's judgment, nuts cultivation is a rather upcoming sector for the republic. Spacing grows of walnut will be quintupled in the nearest future; specialists of the agricultural sector are already looking for the proper seed grains for the new nursery transplants. At the present time Moldova exports 10000 t of nuts every year.
One kg of walnut kernels costs 5$ on the world market.
