One can buy onion in Ukraine 1,5-twofold cheaper than in Poland

While many EU countries are informing about harvest failure of onion because of the drought, Ukrainian producers are getting ready to gather a record harvest of onion. Only during the last 7 days middle wholesale prices for onion were going down 10-15% in Kiev, in spite of continuing rain, which complicate gathering of this crop essentially.

Today, according to information of Agricultural marketing project, middle wholesale prices for onion were 1,5 lower on the Kyiv FARMER market, than on the wholesale market BRONISZE near Warsaw, despite the fact, that the prices are still 20-25% higher, than those of the correspondent date in 2005. At that, onion producers' transfer price is on average twice lower in Ukraine, than in Poland. Experts consider that onion prices will be going down with the continuing of its gathering in our country.

We remind that Poland is one of the biggest onion producers in EU and the main onion supplier to the Ukrainian market. Detailed information about onion prices prospects for December 2005-June 2006 you can get from the experts' reports during the third international conference-exhibition "Fruits and vegetables of Ukraine-2006. Open market", which will take place on the 5-6 December 2006 in Kyiv on the territory of NC "Expocenter of Ukraine".
