Czech company "Lavimont" sold its Ukrainian chips production plant to a Greek company

According to information of farm enterprise "Konyk", Czech company "Lavimont", which produced potato-chips under the brand "Karpat-CHIPS" in village Storozhnytsya of Zakarpattya region, found a buyer for its plant, which had been built in Ukraine only 2 years ago.

As explained by the representatives of the farm enterprise, which was the main supplier of special chips-potato varieties for this processor, a Greek company (the name is not ascertained) became a buyer of the plant.

According to Liudmila Dzjamko, market information specialist of Agricultural marketing project (Zakarpattya office), company DE "Lavimont" started building of its Ukrainian plant in 2003, planning to invest about 926000 US Dollars into this entertainment. 2005 the entertainment registered the brand "Karpat-CHIPS". However, in experts' judgments, the decision to sell the active was reached because of occurrence of some problems with rhythmical raw materials supplies of the needed quality from the local farm enterprises, and also because of the sell-off problems with the finished product.

As explained by Andrey Yarmak, Agricultural marketing project deputy chief, Kraft Foods is strongly marked leader of the Ukrainian chips market; the company has its own potato-chips production plant in Kiev oblast. Brand "Liuks" from Kraft Foods has stable leading positions on the Ukrainian market. Herewith, according to Andrey Yarmak, also other big international chips companies-producers show careful attention to the market of our country. Besides, import of chips into the country is constantly growing (as sure as export) and brand "Pringles" from Procter and Gamble could already win stable market power in Ukraine.

Detailed information about fresh potato market prospects and also its processing will be announced by the best experts of this brunch during the third international conference-exhibition "Fruits and vegetables of Ukraine-2006.Open market", which will take place on the 5-6 of December 2006 in Kiev on the territory of NC "Expotsentr Ukrainy". Within the limits of the program of the conference carrying out of particularized forums is planned and in the frames of one of them a number of presentations, devoted to potato is planned. It is expected this year, that about 350-400 experts of fruit business from 15 countries of the world will participate in the conference, and the exhibition will be visited by more than 5000 people, where more than 100-150 exhibitors are expected.
