Russia. Seasonal raw cane-sugar import duties may by increased to EUR220 from EURO 150 per MT

Government Commission on Foreign Trade Protection and Custom Policy recommended to raise seasonal import duties for raw cane sugar from EUR150 to EUR220 per MT - informed Minister of Economic Development Mr. Gref after Commission's meeting on July 1, 2002.

It was also decided to start reinvestigation of higher starch treacle imports to Russia. This investigation must be completed by September 1, 2002 and its results reported to the Commission. According to results of the investigation, Commission may raise import duty for starch treacle, which is now 16% but not less than EUR0.07 per kg.
