Serbia rapidly increases the production of cultivar blueberry

The trade sources inform that Serbian farmers are actively extending cultivation areas of the cultivar blueberry; this commodity meets a great demand in the EU countries. During this year the gross production of cultivar blueberry has increased threefold up to 1,000 tons. Serbian producers are mostly oriented on the market of EU countries which buyers pay EUR2,800-3,150 for one ton of the frozen blueberry.

The Agricultural Marketing Project has informed several times that the prices for blueberry in Ukraine are increasing annually due to the growing demand for this commodity and due to the higher costs to harvest blueberry. Ukraine is a large exporter of frozen blueberry in the EU countries. However, this blueberry is wild-growing. At the same time, the production of cultivar blueberry is still a rather attractive investment opportunity for Ukrainian farmers; to our regret, this opportunity has not practically used till the present moment.

You will have a chance to know more about new opportunities provided by Ukrainian produce business, including the segment of berry crop production from the experts during the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open market". The companies from Balkan countries will participate in the event. In particular, Macedonia plans to send a group of companies to the conference.

The interest to the participation in the conference is extremely high this year. To ensure the participation, the organizers recommend hurry up and register soon.

The representatives of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal say that the quantity of the conference participants will be limited to 400 persons this year. At the present moment the leading companies from various world countries continue sending applications for participation in the event.
