Imported tomatoes dramatically rise in price
According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, national greenhouses have practically finished tomato sales season. At the present moment the greenhouse complexes are cleaned and prepared for the next crop rotation. The remnants of green tomatoes are sold for $0.49-0.88/kg depending from the shipment quality and volume.
As it has been already reported, the imported tomatoes of Turkish origin continue entering national markets. The prices for these commodities have increased up to $1-1.27/kg by the end of the reporting period. The produce of Spanish origin is of a greater demand this week. The prices for Spanish tomatoes are within the limits $1.56/kg to $1.76/kg. To the specialists' opinion, high prices for Spanish tomatoes are implied by their good quality.
According to the forecasts of the market players, the positive price behavior will be preserved on market. The prices are likely to increase by the New Year holidays.
The quantity of supplies of the imported tomatoes on inner market, their uniform manner will significantly influence the price formation.
