Price growth for pears and some apple varieties is observed on Polish market
According to information of www.e-bronisze.pl, the prices for pears have started to grow this week on Polish market. The purchase price increased 4% up to $0.78/kg. To compare, an average wholesale price for quality pear is $1.47/kg on Kyiv wholesale market.
Despite of the continuous decrease of the average wholesale prices for apples on Polish market (around 3% per week), the prices for this commodity started to stabilize past week. For example, varieties Elstaer, Cortland and Rubin cost now 3-7% more expensive. The experts mentioned also the price growth for walnuts.
An average wholesale price for apple of Golden Delicious variety is $1.07/kg, Idared variety - 0.78/kg, and Jonagold variety - 0.88/kg. In average, the price is twice as high comparing to today's price on Warsaw wholesale market. Taking into consideration the fact that apples cost 20-30% cheaper if purchased directly from Polish producers, it is clear why there are so many Polish apples in Ukrainian retail chain.
The presentation of the opportunities of the mutually beneficial trade of the produce commodities with Poland, Moldova, Georgia, Macedonia and Russia is planned in the program of the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006.
