AgVANTAGE opens the second bay leaf consolidation center in the West Georgia
In Khobi (West Georgia) the new consolidation center/pack house is opened for dry bay leaf collection and packaging. This event continues assistance program to the Georgian bay leaf industry the main objective of which is alleviation of Russian economic embargo.
In light of quality sensitiveness of international buyers, through AgVANTAGE assistance and the company - JSC "Kemulariebi" commitment the existing facility was renovated where hygienically clean conditions will allow the company to select and pack stable quality product.
The renovated center has capacity of 400 tons of dry bay leaf sorting and packing during a year. Apart of increased capacity, the center allows the company to produce higher and stable quality bay leaf commanding 35 - 40% higher margin on the international markets compared to CIS markets.
Located in the middle of the biggest bay leaf supply area in Georgia, JSC "Kemulariebi" has a real potential of producing and selling competitive quality bay leaf on the alternative markets thus facing less risk of traditional CIS market volatility.
