Up to 90% of all shipments in the segment of expensive dessert apples accrue to imported apples in the large cities of Ukraine

The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal inform that the demand for fruits has significantly increased as a result of the coming New Year holidays in Ukraine. It is especially characteristic for exotic fruits sector which includes pomegranate, persimmon, banana, tangerine, orange, pineapple, etc. The sales volumes of these products are gradually increasing; consequently, the vendors lift up sales prices in accordance with the demand growth.

Market players also noted an elevated demand for apples; apple supply grows along with the demand level. According to evaluations of the market players, around 80% of the supplies of quality dessert apples in large cities of the country accrue for Polish apples, around 10% accrue for Moldavian apples and only 10% of apples accrue for the national product. In these circumstances several large farms spoke about considerable slowdown of Ukrainian apple sales; they decided to suspend sales till mid winter at minimum.
