Tomato price has increased 30% during one day in Kyiv
According to the results of price monitoring conducted by the Agricultural Marketing Project, tomato prices have increased 30% today in Kyiv. On Thursday December 21st tomatoes were sold for $1.66-1.86/kg. Today the minimal price for tomatoes is $1.96/kg, the maximum price is $2.35/kg.
The price growth affected cucumbers as well. An average price for this product has increased $3.13/kg to $3.52/kg (short cucumbers) and $2.35-2.74/kg (long cucumbers). Pepper has become $0.39/kg more expensive - the price for this product has increased $2.54/kg to 2.94/kg.
The price increase for greenhouse vegetables is caused by rapid demand growth on the eve of the holidays. This trend will last during the whole next week, according to the forecasts of the experts of the Agricultural Marketing Project.
At the same period of time past year tomatoes were sold for $1.96-2.15/kg, cucumbers for $1.66-2.35/kg, pepper for $2.15-2.54/kg.
