Two new fruit consolidation centers are being equipped in Shida Kartli
With the financial and technical assistance of USAID/AgVANTAGE project, two consolidation/storing centers for seed and stone fruits are being equipped in one of the main regions of fruit production in Georgia - Shida Kartli, (Gori region, villages Variani and Breti).
Each consolidation center will store 350 to 400 tons of fruit per season. Currently cooling units are being installed in the storing vaults. Modern cooling equipment is distinguished with its cost-effectiveness, user friendliness and efficiency.
These modern cooling and storage system will let new consolidation centers sell apples in late spring (April -May), when prices on fruits increase by 20-30% compared to the fall season. Besides, application of modern cooling units will bring the loss rate in fruit storing to a minimum and increase profitability of enterprises.
