Ukrainian farmers will harvest carrot in January

According to the incoming information, the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal say that some producers found themselves in a better position than their colleagues. Those producers were favored who made decision or were not able to harvest the grown carrot in the end of 2006 comparing to their colleagues who harvested carrot in time. The thing is, carrot is stored extremely poor in the storages without forced cooling this year, that's why the farmers have to sell it for a very low price. At the same time, carrot preserves high quality if stored in soil.

In the conditions of lack of quality carrot on market the prices for such product can grow soon. So, some farmers can start harvesting carrot late January. Still, the experts consider this approach to the carrot storage to be too risky. To their opinion, the construction of the storages with high level of insulation, forced cooling and ventilation, air humidity control is the most appropriate solution from the economic point of view.
