Ukraine: fresh herbs prices keep a high level

According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the prices for fresh herbs stay high in Ukraine. Moreover, the vendors try to reconsider the sales prices upwards in the oblasts where the supplies are interrupted. The market players explain that the national producers have almost stopped the supplies of fresh herbs because of the end of the fresh herbs production season. Ukrainian farmers will start the next harvesting season for dill and parsley in the end of February 2007.

The dill and parsley of Georgian production are dominating on the market at the present moment. However, the market players mention the irregular supplies of this product on market. According to the representatives of the wholesale companies in the western oblasts of Ukraine, the prices for dill have increased up to $9.8-10.7/kg, for parsley - $6.86-8.82/kg recently. The prices are lower in Kyiv, $6.86/kg to $7.84/kg. The price for green onion is remaining steadier at the present moment; it is possible to buy a wholesale shipment of this product for $ 2.54-2.94/kg.

Just to compare, the prices for parsley are $0.58-0.62/kg in Poland; this fact proves a sufficient supply of this product on market. According to the specialists' forecast, the further price growth for fresh herbs can't be ruled out if the quantity of fresh herbs supplies to Ukraine declines.
