The annual price decrease for champignons on Ukrainian market resulted in the imported mushroom share reduction
The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal monitor Ukrainian mushroom market on a regular basis; several times they have already informed about a long-term trend of the price decrease for the mushrooms of Ukrainian origin (champignon and oyster mushroom) on the inner market. To the specialists' opinion, this trend is predetermined by a growing number of mushroom producers and the development of mushroom production technologies. As a result, the supply grows on market. The supply growth rates exceed the demand growth rates, so the average prices decline.
According to the evaluations of the experts of Agricultural Marketing Project, the prices for champignon and oyster mushroom have decreased 22-23% in average since the previous year. As a result of the price decrease for mushroom, the small inefficient producers have been forced out of market as they did not have the well-set sales channels. It their turn, the large producers could build up the production in order to decrease the production cost. The price decrease affected the foreign mushroom suppliers too: first of all Polish mushroom growers have suffered as they are not able to effectively compete on Ukrainian market anymore.
The "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal is developing the program of the international conference of mushroom market professionals at the present moment. The unique analytical information about the situation on Ukrainian market and the perspectives of its development will be presented during this event.
