The prices for first wholesale shipments of the national greenhouse produce are planned to be set lower than a year ago

The representatives of the greenhouse complexes informed the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal that the first large shipments of cucumber will be supplied on market in the first decade of February 2007. Sunny weather has been observed recently in Ukraine; it contributes to the fast cucumber ripening in the greenhouses.

The market of cucumber and tomato is relatively stable in Ukraine now. Both products are sold for the prices $2.54-2.94/kg; Turkey and Spain are the main suppliers at the present moment.

The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal mention, as a rule the prices for tomatoes and cucumbers start to decrease when the first shipments of national produce enter the market. This season the producers plan to start selling the product for not less than $1.96/kg. These prices are tentative; it is possible that they will be set on the higher level.

For example, in the past 2006 year the national producers started selling first shipments of cucumber for the price $2.74-2.94/kg; they faced no problems while selling the grown product.
