Ukraine: frosts have not injured orchards, berry beds and vineyards

Quite dramatic decrease of the daily temperatures was accompanied by heavy snowfalls almost on the whole territory of Ukraine; this weather luckily has not caused any harm to the orchardists and the farmers who grow berries. The producers confirm this information communicating with the experts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal.

The orchardists from the South of Ukraine were somewhat daunted by the cold weather. However, according to the preliminary data, the daily temperature decrease down to -5-8 C has not affected the orchards. Thanks to the deep snow cover the temperature fall was also painless to the berry beds and for the producers who planted winter onion past autumn.

At the same time, the delcined daily temperature positively influenced the conditions of the produce storage in the premises which were not equipped with the forced ventilation. The supply of low-quality produce was rapidly reduced on market due to the mentioned fact; the illusion of the price growth for some vegetables was simultaneously indulged. Still, according to the evaluations done by the analysts of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the stocks of carrot, onion, cabbage, table beet and potato are sufficient to fully satisfy the needs of the inner market till the vegetables of new harvest enter the market.
