The cultivation areas for strawberry to be sold on fresh market will be extended in Poland

According to the forecasts of Ebronishe.Pl site, the cultivation areas of the dessert strawberry varieties will be significantly extended in 2007. The farmers got a fair good price for the strawberry on the fresh market past year due to the unfavorable weather and the reduced production. They hope to get the same high price this season too. To the specialists' opinion, the acreage of the strawberry for processing won't be extended because the prices for commercial strawberry are significantly lower.

The producers are mostly interested in the dessert strawberry varieites Elsanta and Selva. The Diamante variety has been recently getting popularity as well. Though, it has one significant drawback; this variety is of low frost resistance.
