Ukraine expects for the next price growth for apples

To the opinion of the world produce markets' specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal, the wholesale prices for apple can increase soon on Ukrainian market. One of the main reasons is that the selling season for the more expensive apples has started. These apples were stored in the storages equipped with the forced ventilation and the controlled atmosphere (CA) devices in Poland and Ukraine.

As a rule, the owners of CA and forced ventilation storages keep apples till March-April cause the market players go on supplying the cheaper produce from the non-equipped storages till the mentioned time. The situation is slightly different this year: it was much more difficult to store apples in the premises without the forced ventilation because of the warm winter. That's why the rates of apple sales were faster than usually.

One more reason of the possible price growth for apples is that Russia demands this product more. Despite of the embargo imposed on apple and other fresh produce supplies from Poland to the market of Russian Federation, apples are "flying away" in the direction of Russia, the Polish trade sources inform. Polish wholesalers inform about the sales of Polish apples to Russia through Lithuania and Ukraine.
